Abstract:The production of Sm2Fe17 alloy by means of reduction- diffusion(R/D) and the preparation of Sm2Fe17N3 magnetic powders by means of gas- solid reaction have been studied. The ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid aqueous ammonia is used to optimize the washing process. With the aid of the X- ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM), theoretical analysis and experimental investigation on diffusion and nitriding process as well as mechanism of Sm- Fe alloy have been carried out. Through vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM),hysteresis loop of Sm2Fe17N3 magnetic powder has been analyzed. Magnetic powders are obtained with optimum magnetic properties such as Ms=133. 43 A·m2/kg, Mr=122. 46 A·m2/kg, Hci=795. 2 kA/m, (BH)max=180. 64 kJ/m3.
